About African Smiles

Africa Smiles is a wholesaler and retailer of a wide range of South African arts, crafts, beadwork, gifts and handmade products supplying both the South African and international markets. They offer an exclusive range of African-inspired beaded items, t-shirts and fabric items, designed in-house and printed from original artwork. Their collection showcases beautiful products created by crafters within their local communities.

Wire & Beadwork

This African craft is handmade by teams of local South African crafters and artists living and working in the urban areas of KwaZulu-Natal. The assembly and packaging is done at our business premises in Durban. Our crafters have many years of experience in this traditional form of the arts and crafts. They are able to produce beautiful handmade gifts using galvanized wire and glass beads.

Their varied range includes beaded souvenirs, mementos, gifts, key rings, key chains, fridge magnets, beaded animals, beaded pencils, candle holders, handmade bottle stoppers, trophy heads, table cloth weights, wine glass charms, bowls and Christmas decorations.

The process of hand making the beaded wire craft item begins with forming a wire framework shape. A colourful bead mix is threaded onto a thin wire and this is wound around the wire shape to create the finished product.
